The Museum of the History of Trotting, the only structure of its kind in Italy, is located to the north of Civitanova Marche, among the hills of the Asola Valley. The museum was set up in some renovated stables at the “San Marone” trotting horse breeding facilities and benefits from the nearby track and activities connected with the adjacent racecourse. It exhibits to the public a remarkable quantity of documentary material that has been collected with great dedication for more than 20 years by Captain Ermanno Mori. The material, both from Italy and abroad, which has been arranged to present the history of trotting races, includes race programmes, posters, image and film documents, a well-stocked library, an extensive newspaper and periodical archive and mementos from the world of the “harnessed” horse. The museum also houses works of art on the subject of horses, fine English and American prints, graphic works and votive offerings.
